New Delhi: Starting in April, electronic goods are set to become more expensive. Specifically, there are reports of price hikes for ACs, refrigerators, and smart TVs. The primary reasons for this are the rising costs of raw materials and increased transportation expenses. This has driven up manufacturing costs for companies, an impact that will now be directly passed on to consumers, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
According to reports, the prices of these appliances could increase by approximately 5 to 6 percent. This means that items currently available at a slightly lower price point will become more expensive next month. Consequently, purchasing appliances that offer relief during the summer season could become more challenging.
A major contributing factor is the shortage of memory chips used in smart TVs. Additionally, companies are having to pay higher rates due to a scarcity of LCD panels. This will have a direct impact on TV prices. In particular, models sized at 32, 43, 55, and 65 inches are likely to see the most significant price increases.
The prices of raw materials—such as plastics, resins, and polymers—used in the manufacturing of ACs and refrigerators have gone up. This has increased production costs, and companies are now preparing to raise the retail prices of these appliances.
It is not just home appliances; laptops are also expected to become significantly more expensive. Driven by rising costs for processors, GPUs, and RAM, laptop prices could surge by up to 35 percent this year. Laptops that previously retailed for around ₹30,000–₹35,000 are now seeing their prices climb to as high as ₹45,000.
If you are planning to purchase an AC, refrigerator, TV, or laptop, buying now could prove to be a smart move. This is because, starting in April, the prices of all these items are likely to rise further.
