Ahmedabad: A deadly plane crash took place in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Thursday afternoon. An Air India flight AI-171 was headed for London crashed just a few minutes after its takeoff, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
The plane suddenly began plummeting downwards, and within a matter of minutes the flames were engulfed by fire. Dozens of passengers are believed to be killed in the accident.
According to Dynamite News correspondent, The two pilots who operated this aircraft were vastly experienced. The line training captain, Captain Sumit Sabharwal, had a flight experience of 8,200 hours. He was joined by First Officer Clive Kundar, who had 1,100 hours of flying experience.

Along with 12 crew members, the aircraft had a total of a total of 242 individuals, including 230 passengers. Two of the cabin crew seniors are Shraddha Dhawan and Aparna Mahadik.
Other members in the cabin crew are Sineita Chakraborty, Nagnathoi Kongbraltpam Sharma, Deepak Pathak, Maithili Patil, Irfan Sheikh, Lammnathem Singson, Roshni Songre Rajendra, and Manisha Thapa.
The plane was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which is efficient in terms of fuel and highly comfortable to travel in. The model made its first flight on 15 December 2009.
Air India has made hotline number 18005691444 available to obtain information. Immediately after the plane took off, the pilot declared an emergency to the Ahmedabad Air Traffic Control, and after that, the communication snapped.
Briefly later, the plane crashed near a hospital in the Meghaninagar neighborhood and burst into flames. Black smoke was visible from a distance. The people on board the plane are 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, 7 Portuguese, and 1 Canadian national.

The passenger list also mentions the name of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. All flights operated from the airport after the incident have been postponed, according to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport spokesperson. He further stated that Flight AI-171 took off to Gatwick Airport in London at 1:39 pm.
