Lucknow: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has raised serious questions over the Special Intensive Revision process in Uttar Pradesh. He questioned inconsistencies in the figures presented by the state government, particularly regarding the increase and decrease in the voter list.

Akhilesh Yadav alleged that earlier Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had stated that nearly 40 million voters were removed under the SIR process, but the government has now presented a revised figure of 28.9 million. He questioned how the number could change within two weeks and how 11.1 million voters were suddenly added to the list.

Why Did the Numbers Change?

Akhilesh Yadav asked the government to explain why the figure dropped from 40 million to 28.9 million. He demanded a clear and transparent explanation for this change. He also questioned where the additional 11.1 million voters came from after the revision and whether the data presented by the government was accurate or manipulated.

Questions on Virtual Voters and BJP’s Role

Akhilesh Yadav alleged that virtual voters may have been added to the voter list under the SIR process. Taking a dig at the ruling party, he remarked whether these were the BJP’s so called artificial digital voters. His comment was aimed at the BJP government, accusing it of possibly using technological methods to influence the electoral process.

Issue of Fake Voters Raised

He further questioned how such a large number of new registrations took place when CCTV recordings were supposedly in place. He asked whether any video evidence existed to monitor the process. Akhilesh Yadav said that if such a large number of voters were registered at once, there should have been proper supervision. He also claimed that BJP ministers and workers had recently been mobilising crowds forcefully, raising questions about how this registration was carried out and whether it was done under political influence.

Samajwadi Party’s Protest

Akhilesh Yadav stated that the government must come forward and clarify the doubts surrounding the SIR process. He appealed to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to respond to the serious concerns and ensure that the entire revision exercise was conducted in a fair and transparent manner.

What Is the SIR Process?

The SIR process aims to correct and verify electoral records and is an important exercise to update the voter list in Uttar Pradesh. Under this process, names of voters who have shifted, passed away, or were found to be duplicate are removed, while new eligible voters are added to the list.

Akhilesh Yadav’s Allegation

Akhilesh Yadav alleged that these figures are being used to influence electoral politics. He said that if voters have been added wrongly, it puts the entire election process under suspicion. The Samajwadi Party has been consistently demanding an investigation and complete transparency in the matter.
