New Delhi: Amid the escalating Iran crisis, the Indian government has stepped up its response by forming a high-level committee to closely monitor the situation. According to government sources, the panel will be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The committee also includes External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The move comes at a time when global energy markets remain volatile due to geopolitical tensions and disruptions in major oil transit routes.

Reports suggest that the three ministers have already held several rounds of meetings to discuss the implications of the ongoing conflict involving IranUnited States and Israel.

Sources also indicated that Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is likely to be present in the House and may intervene during the discussion on the issue.

Earlier, during an inter-ministerial press briefing, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Sujata Sharma said that despite the West Asia crisis affecting global energy corridors, India’s crude oil supplies remain secure due to diversified sourcing strategies. She emphasised that the government continues to closely monitor developments to ensure stability in the country’s energy supply.
