Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)
New Delhi: Coronavirus cases are once again seen increasing in the country. Keeping this in mind, the Health Ministry has instructed all the states and union territories to make necessary preparations. The ministry has specifically asked to ensure adequate availability of oxygen, isolation beds, ventilators, and essential medicines so that any emergency can be dealt with.
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, several technical review meetings were held on this subject on June 2 and 3, which were chaired by Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr. Sunita Sharma.
These meetings were attended by representatives from all states, including the Disaster Management Cell, Emergency Management Response (EMR), National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP), and Central Government Hospitals of Delhi.
According to the information, surveillance teams of states and districts under IDSP are closely monitoring cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI). According to health officials, testing of all SARI patients has been made mandatory, while testing of 5 percent samples of ILI cases has been recommended.
Also, positive SARI cases are being sent to ICMR laboratories for genome sequencing.
