New Delhi: Delhi Police have issued a look-out notice against Hariram Bansal, the owner of the five-storey PG building in Satya Niketan that collapsed on Sunday, killing six people. Authorities have intensified efforts to trace Bansal and prevent him from leaving the country.

Police officials said they have obtained details of his passport and initiated measures to restrict his movement. Bansal, a resident of Gurugram, has been named in the FIR registered at South Campus Police Station in connection with the deadly building collapse.
The FIR has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, negligent acts during construction or repair work, and actions endangering human life.
Police teams have been formed to locate Hariram Bansal and question others linked to the property. A magisterial inquiry has also been ordered to investigate the exact reasons behind the collapse.
The building, reportedly operating as a boys’ PG near Delhi University’s South Campus, collapsed around 1:30 PM on Sunday while repair and construction work was underway.
Initial investigations have focused on unauthorised basement work and possible structural weaknesses. Officials said the building, identified as P-14 Satya Niketan, was around 40-50 years old and stood on a plot of approximately 55 square yards.
The MCD has stated that the structure had a basement along with ground plus four floors and allegedly had no sanctioned building plan. The basement work was reportedly carried out without approval.
The collapse triggered a massive rescue operation involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Service, Delhi Police, MCD and other agencies.
Several people were rescued from the debris, but six victims lost their lives. Injured people were taken to hospitals, including AIIMS Trauma Centre, where multiple victims were treated.
The investigation will now examine who approved the renovation work, whether safety permissions were obtained and if previous inspections failed to identify risks.
The Delhi government has also announced strict action against those found responsible, while authorities have started reviewing unsafe buildings and PG accommodations across the city.
