Dense fog, severe cold, and poor visibility have disrupted railway operations across North India. To ensure passenger safety, Indian Railways canceled over 20 trains, while many others are running late. Morning and late-night services are most affected due to extremely low visibility.
Poor Visibility Forces Indian Railways to Cancel Multiple Trains
New Delhi: Severe cold, dense fog, and extremely poor weather conditions in North India, including Delhi and the NCR, have severely disrupted daily life. The continuously low visibility is now clearly impacting railway operations. Taking precautionary measures for passenger safety, the railways and IRCTC have canceled more than 20 trains, while approximately 28 trains are running late.
According to the Meteorological Department, the impact of dense fog is most pronounced during the morning and late night hours. Visibility has dropped significantly in many areas, forcing trains to slow down. Some trains are being affected en route, while several have been temporarily canceled. Delhi's Air Quality Index also remains in the 'Severe Plus' category, further exacerbating the situation.
Due to train cancellations caused by the bad weather, long-distance travelers and daily commuters are facing the most difficulties. The cancellation of major trains like the Jabalpur-Ambikapur, Rewa-Chirmiri, Jammu Tawi-Delhi Duronto, Amritsar-Nangal Dam, and Yog Nagari Rishikesh-Jammu Tawi has disrupted passengers' travel plans.
In addition, trains such as the Shalimar Malani Express, BSBS Intercity, Guwahati-Dullabcherra Express, Betwa Express, Rewa-Bilaspur Express, Palanpur-Bhuj Superfast, Delhi-Pathankot Express, and New Jalpaiguri-Darjeeling AC Passenger have also been affected. The disruption of these trains connecting different states is causing inconvenience to thousands of passengers.
