Chandigarh: Punjab witnessed a fresh political confrontation after BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu was detained by police during a protest near Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s convoy in Ludhiana.

The incident took place when Bittu reached the area where CM Mann’s programme was scheduled. During the protest, the BJP leader threw eggs and tomatoes towards the convoy route, following which police took him into custody.

Bittu’s Protest Over Earlier Convoy Incident

Ravneet Singh Bittu claimed that eggs and tomatoes were earlier thrown at his convoy while he was travelling as part of the BJP’s “Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra”.

Reacting to that incident, Bittu staged a protest near the chief minister’s convoy and said he was returning the same items that were allegedly used during the earlier incident.

The BJP leader accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government of failing to maintain law and order and questioned the security arrangements.

Police Detain BJP Leader

As the protest happened near the route of the chief minister’s convoy, police officials intervened and detained Ravneet Bittu.

Security personnel removed him from the spot to prevent any further disruption. Videos from the location showed police officials taking the BJP leader away during the protest.

Political Clash Between BJP And AAP Intensifies

The incident has added to the ongoing political exchange between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.

While Bittu accused AAP supporters over the earlier incident, the ruling party has faced criticism from the opposition over security and law-and-order issues.

The confrontation has once again brought political protests and security arrangements for leaders into focus.

Punjab Politics Heats Up

With political activity increasing in the state, both BJP and AAP have intensified their campaigns and attacks against each other.

The latest face-off between Ravneet Bittu and Bhagwant Mann’s government reflects the growing political rivalry in Punjab, where issues of governance, security and public campaigns remain key talking points.
