According to weather experts, several weather systems are currently impacting the country. The subtropical western jet stream is blowing at a high speed over Northeast India, with a speed of about 125 knots. It is active at an altitude of approximately 12.6 kilometers, and this is causing fluctuations in the weather in the northeastern states.
The impact of the previously active western disturbance has weakened, but now two new western disturbances are about to enter the western Himalayan region. The first will be active from February 13th and the second from February 16th. Due to these influences, rain is expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Muzaffarabad on February 13, 16, and 17, while snowfall is possible in higher altitude areas. Rain and snowfall are also expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on February 16 and 17.
The cyclonic circulation over eastern Uttar Pradesh and northeastern Assam has weakened, leading to a return to normal weather. Light rain is expected in Arunachal Pradesh on February 13-14, while dense fog is expected in Meghalaya in the morning until February 13. The fog may reduce visibility and disrupt road and air traffic.
Day temperatures have begun to rise in the plains of North India, including Delhi-NCR, and a mild heat wave is being felt in the afternoon. Temperatures may rise further in the coming days, although nights will remain mildly cool. The difference in day and night temperatures is expected to increase, and clear weather will bring bright sunshine.
The weather is expected to remain dry in most parts of South India, although light rain is possible in some places. Strong winds and high waves are expected in coastal areas, so fishermen have been advised to exercise caution before venturing into the sea.
