New Delhi: The second and last lunar eclipse of this year, 2025, is going to take place on 7th September, Sunday. This is not an ordinary astronomical event, but this day also has great religious and astrological significance.

This eclipse is taking place on the full moon date of the Bhadrapada month, from which day Pitru Paksha (Shraddha Paksha) will also start. For this reason, Shraddh of Purnima will also be performed on this day.

From the point of view of science, it is just a natural astronomical phenomenon, where the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon. But it is considered inauspicious in Hindu scriptures and astrology. It is believed that at the time of eclipse, the negative effect of Rahu increases significantly, due to which some precautions should be taken to avoid it.

Eclipse Time

According to Indian time, this lunar eclipse will start at 9:58 pm on 7th September and will end at 1:26 am on 8th September. The peak of the eclipse will be between 11:00 pm and 12:22 am.

Sutak Kaal

Since this eclipse will be visible in India, the Sutak Kaal will also be valid here. The Sutak of the lunar eclipse will start 9 hours before the eclipse begins, i.e., from 12:56 pm on 7 September. Any kind of worship, religious work, and auspicious work are considered forbidden during the Sutak period. During this time, children, pregnant women, elderly, and sick people are advised to take special precautions.

Blood Moon

During this full lunar eclipse, the moon will be completely covered in the shadow of the earth, and it will appear red or copper colored, which is called a 'Blood Moon.' This view will be extremely rare and attractive, which will be clearly visible from almost all the major cities of the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bengaluru.

Astrological effects

According to astrologers, this eclipse may cause natural disasters, fire incidents, war-like situations, or epidemics in some parts of the world. However, it is also said that these negative situations will improve quickly due to the favorable aspect of Jupiter.

In short, this event is a spectacular spectacle for astronomy lovers and a religious time for the general public in which caution is needed.
