Raghav Chadha hits back at AAP
New Delhi: A day after being removed as the Aam Aadmi Party’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha, Raghav Chadha strongly rejected the allegations against him, describing the party’s decision as part of a “scripted campaign” and a “coordinated attack” aimed at targeting him.
In a video shared on social media platform X, Chadha vowed to expose “every lie” and addressed each allegation made by his party, concluding with a statement inspired by the iconic line from Dhurandhar: “Ghayal hoon isliye ghatak hoon” - “I may be wounded, but I am stronger because of it.”
मैं बोलना नहीं चाहता था, मगर चुप रहता तो बार-बार दोहराया गया झूठ भी सच लगने लगता।
Three Allegations. Zero Truth.

Allegation 1: Participation in Parliamentary Walkouts
Chadha refuted claims that he stays seated when the opposition stages walkouts. “This is completely false - a blatant lie,” he said. He challenged anyone to provide evidence of a single instance where he did not join a walkout, adding that Parliament is equipped with CCTV cameras that would confirm the truth.
Allegation 2: Refusal to Sign Chief Election Commissioner Petition
Responding to claims that he refused to sign the impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Chadha said:
“No leader from the party ever asked me - formally or informally - to sign it. Several Rajya Sabha MPs from the party also did not sign the motion. Why blame me alone? Moreover, the motion required 50 signatures in the Rajya Sabha, which was easily met.”
Allegation 3: Raising “Trivial Issues” in Parliament
Chadha dismissed the charge of raising trivial issues, asserting that his focus has always been public welfare. He listed several matters he has raised over his four-year tenure:
“I did not go to Parliament to create chaos or break microphones. My goal has been to make a real impact, not generate disruption,” he said.
Change in Rajya Sabha Leadership
The Aam Aadmi Party informed the Rajya Sabha secretariat on Thursday that Ashok Kumar Mittal has been appointed as the party’s new deputy leader, replacing Chadha.
Chadha, who has been an MP since April 2022, has often raised attention-grabbing issues in Parliament. Recently, he highlighted the problem of “sarpanch pati” or “panchayat pati”, where women elected to reserved local body seats remain nominal leaders while male family members wield actual authority. He urged the government to ensure that elected women in Panchayati Raj institutions are empowered to exercise their constitutional rights, in line with the 73rd Amendment.
