New Delhi: The Rohini Court in Delhi has concluded the hearing and delivered its verdict on the anticipatory bail plea of Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, accused in the 'Birch by Romeo Lane' fire incident in Goa. The court rejected the anticipatory bail application.

The case is related to an FIR filed after a fire broke out in a restaurant in Goa, in which the Luthra brothers are accused of negligence. Both sides presented their arguments in court. The police stated that the Luthra brothers did not cooperate with the investigation, while the defense sought a stay on their arrest, arguing that the case was one of negligence, not murder. After hearing the defense's arguments, the court rejected the bail application.

Defense Arguments
The Luthra brothers' lawyer, Tanveer Ahmed Mir, had argued that according to the FIR, the incident was a case of negligence, not murder. He stated that the family was facing threats due to rumors on social media and that two restaurants were demolished without notice. He said that the Luthra brothers were not absconding and were ready to join the investigation, but they were not given any notice and a warrant was issued directly.

Questions about Traveling Abroad
The defense stated that the Luthra brothers were traveling to attend an event in Phuket. However, the police told the court that they had no business dealings in Thailand and that they left the country on December 7th, while a different date was given in court. The police alleged that both of them misled the court and the agencies.

Police Claims
During the hearing, the Goa Police stated that Gaurav Luthra, Saurabh Luthra, and Ajay Gupta are the signatories to this project. They claimed that the panchayat license had already expired and was not renewed. The police argued that the Luthra brothers should not be granted additional protection from the court due to their lack of cooperation.

The defense argued that an arrest cannot be made out of anger or revenge. They claimed that 90 percent of the investigation had been completed without them and that the police had not explained why custody was necessary. After the hearing, the court reserved its order.

Illegal nightclub built on agricultural land
Following the devastating fire in Arpora that killed 25 people, the Goa administration has cracked down on illegal nightclubs.

In this connection, authorities sealed a club located in Vagator. The action, taken on the orders of the Bardez taluka Mamlatdar, revealed that the club had been built on agricultural land without the necessary change of zone.

Authorities have issued a notice to the club owner, giving him seven days to respond. The nightclub management's side of the story was not available.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has directed immediate action against all illegal nightclubs and those violating safety standards.
