Bandipore: Cloudburst struck Tartei Kilo village in the Tulail Valley area of Gurez in North Kashmir's Bandipora district on Wednesday, triggering a flood-like situation and causing extensive damage to residential houses and agricultural land.

The sudden surge of water and debris inundated large parts of the village, forcing residents to flee their homes and move to safer locations. Despite the scale of destruction, no loss of life was reported.

Residents Rush to Higher Ground

The cloudburst created panic among villagers as water and debris rapidly flowed through residential areas. Residents rushed to save their children, livestock and belongings before moving to higher ground.

Hundreds of acres of agricultural land were submerged, raising concerns over significant losses to farmers in the remote region.

Dozens of Houses Damaged

According to local officials, dozens of residential structures suffered damage due to the powerful flow of water, mud and debris. Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage while relief teams continue restoration efforts.

Fifth Cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir in Recent Days

The latest incident comes amid a series of cloudbursts reported across Jammu and Kashmir in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, a cloudburst hit the Bathoi area of Reasi district, damaging several houses. On Tuesday, four separate cloudbursts were reported in Doda, Kishtwar and Poonch districts, leading to flash floods and road blockades.

Administration Launches Relief Operations

Local administration and emergency response teams have been deployed to the affected areas. Officials said debris clearance operations and damage assessments are underway.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant as weather conditions remain unstable in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

No Casualties Reported

Officials confirmed that no casualties have been reported in the latest cloudburst incident. Relief and rescue teams remain on alert while efforts continue to restore normalcy in the affected villages.
