Work From Home Advisory Issued For Offices (Img: X)
New Delhi: Heavy rainfall in Delhi-NCR has disrupted normal life, prompting the Gurugram administration to advise corporate offices and private institutions to encourage employees to work from home.
The advisory was issued amid concerns over waterlogging, traffic congestion and difficulties faced by commuters across the city. Authorities said reducing road movement would help ease pressure on traffic systems and allow civic agencies to carry out drainage and restoration work more efficiently.
According to officials, Gurugram received around 60 mm of rainfall between 8 am and 5 pm on August 7. The downpour led to water accumulation in several areas and created traffic bottlenecks on major routes, including key roads connecting Delhi and Gurugram.
The district administration has urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious while moving through areas vulnerable to waterlogging.
The work-from-home advisory is aimed at limiting unnecessary movement during adverse weather conditions. Officials believe fewer commuters on roads will help authorities manage traffic flow and complete drainage operations without additional challenges. Private companies and establishments have been advised to allow employees to work remotely on August 8 wherever possible.

Gurugram, one of India’s biggest corporate hubs, witnesses heavy daily traffic movement due to thousands of employees travelling between residential areas and office complexes.
Authorities have advised citizens to monitor weather updates and cooperate with emergency teams. Commuters have been asked to plan their journeys carefully as several parts of the city may continue to face waterlogging and slow traffic movement.
The administration said the advisory is a precautionary step to ensure public safety and support restoration efforts amid continued rainfall concerns.
