New Delhi: Several parts of North India, including Delhi-NCR, experienced sharp weather fluctuations last week, with alternating spells of bright sunshine, light rainfall, and brief periods of humidity. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the coming week is expected to be significantly warmer in Delhi. Daytime temperatures may climb to around 32°C, while nighttime temperatures are likely to settle near 15°C. Increased sunshine will contribute to a noticeable rise in daytime heat across the region.

Bright Sunshine and Changing Winds in Delhi-NCR

In the past 24 hours, winds of up to 17-20 kmph have been observed in the Delhi-NCR region. Although the wind change is not having a lasting impact on the weather, the strong sunshine is expected to increase daytime temperatures. The Meteorological Department stated that the sunshine will remain strong during this period, and the heat will increase by evening.

Hot Weather in Uttar Pradesh

Temperatures continue to rise in Uttar Pradesh. Bright sunshine will push temperatures higher during the day, while the influence of a western disturbance may bring light clouds to the eastern parts. Temperatures may drop slightly in the next 48 hours, providing short-term relief. Temperatures are likely to rise again after this.

Gradually Increasing Impact of Heat in Bihar

The cold and foggy weather has almost ended in Bihar. Now, the heat is gradually increasing. A mixed weather of mild heat during the day and mild cold in the morning and evening will prevail. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain normal in most districts of the state for the next few days.

Possibility of Rain and Snowfall in Mountains

The weather in the mountains is also changing. After the severe cold, daytime temperatures will be slightly higher, which has increased the number of tourists. According to the Meteorological Department, light snowfall may occur in high altitude areas like Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, and Kinnaur from February 23. Cities' temperatures have reached 5 degrees above normal, but the weather at higher altitudes will remain cool.

Heavy Rain Alert in South India

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in nine states of South India over the next 16-48 hours. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast in Tamil Nadu and Kerala between February 21 and 24. Rain is also expected in Chhattisgarh and Odisha on February 23-24, while rain and snowfall are also expected in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir.

Overall, North India is experiencing increasing heat, while the south and the mountains will experience a mix of heat and rain. The public has been advised to monitor IMD updates for further changes in weather conditions.
