Under this operation, India carried out air strikes on 9 terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the night of 6-7 May. This action was taken in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, in which 26 innocent civilians lost their lives.
The Indian Air Force, Army and Navy together carried out this joint operation. 9 targets were destroyed in 7 minutes between 1:04 am and 1:11 am on Tuesday night. However, the operation took a total of 25 minutes to complete.
The 9 locations targeted include Jaish-e-Mohammed's headquarters in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba headquarters in Muridke. 10 members of Masood Azhar's family have been killed in these attacks.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Draupadi Murmu and informed her about the operation. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that this action has been taken to destroy the infrastructure of terrorism.

According to military sources, Operation Sindoor was carried out in a very precise and targeted manner. After damaging all the 9 terrorist hideouts, the army returned safely. The operation was carried out in complete secrecy and at a fast pace, due to which the enemy did not get a chance to respond.
The Government held an all-party meeting today, in which leaders of all major political parties participated. This meeting was called to review national preparedness and Inter-Ministerial Coordination in view of recent developments related to National Security.
After this operation, India has given a clear message that it can go to any extent against terrorism. This action of the Government and the army is getting support across the country.
