New Delhi: In a significant counter-terrorism operation, the Delhi Police Special Cell has successfully dismantled an ISIS-inspired terror module and arrested two operatives who were allegedly planning a suicide attack in the national capital.

The arrests were made following coordinated raids in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. One suspect was apprehended in South Delhi, while the second was arrested in Madhya Pradesh. The operatives were reportedly in the advanced stages of preparing an improvised explosive device (IED) for the planned attack.

Preliminary investigations indicate that they had been undergoing training for a suicide mission and were allegedly in contact with handlers linked to the banned terrorist organization ISIS.

"Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were associated with the ISIS, and were in the process of planning a major terror strike in Delhi. Electronic devices and incriminating materials have been seized from their possession," the officer said to the Mint.

Intelligence Collaboration

Multiple intelligence and security agencies are jointly interrogating the suspects to trace other members of the module and uncover the full extent of the network’s operations. The authorities are also examining digital evidence and communication records to identify any further threats.

This operation underscores the persistent threat of terrorism in urban centers and highlights the effectiveness of coordinated efforts between various agencies in preventing potential attacks.

Similar Terror Module Busted in September

In a major counter-terrorism operation, the Delhi Police had uncovered a Pakistan-based terror module in September. The raids were conducted across multiple states, including Delhi, Jharkhand, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh.

Following the coordinated operations, five individuals were arrested: Ashar Danish, Aftab, Sufiyan, Muzapa, and Kamran Qureshi alias Samar Khan. Danish was apprehended in Ranchi, Jharkhand, while Aftab and Sufiyan were from Mumbai, and Muzapa was arrested in Telangana.

Planned Major Attacks

Police investigations revealed that the group was planning major terror attacks using improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Additionally, the operatives aimed to establish a "Khilafat" in India, reflecting their extremist ideological goals.

Links with Pakistan-Based Handler

Authorities said the suspects were in contact with a Pakistan-based handler, who guided them through encrypted social media platforms. The handler radicalized the operatives with extremist content and instructed them to collect weapons, chemicals, and ammunition components.

Delhi Police further stated that the module’s ambitions went beyond just building IEDs. The group intended to create a self-sustaining ecosystem for manufacturing arms and spreading radical propaganda across India.
