New Delhi: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif delivered a speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 26, claiming that the Pakistan Air Force shot down 7 Indian fighter jets in a recent military confrontation with India.

He stated that these aircraft were now "junk." Sharif praised the Pakistan Air Force pilots, calling them "hawks" and saying that our "Falcons" (pilots) performed brilliantly.

However, this is not the first time Pakistan has made such a claim. It has previously claimed to have shot down 5 Indian aircraft, but India has dismissed each of these claims as baseless and without evidence.

Allegations of 'Operation Sindoor' against India

In his speech, Sharif made serious allegations against India. He stated that in May 2025, India launched a military operation called "Operation Sindoor," in which Pakistan was attacked. Pakistan claims that India launched this operation in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which killed 26 innocent people.

Is Trump trying to befirend Pakistan?

As part of this operation, India carried out airstrikes and missile attacks on nine targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). India clarified that the attacks were aimed only at terrorist infrastructure and were not aimed at civilians or the military.

India-Pakistan Ceasefire

Tensions between the two countries escalated following this clash, but a ceasefire was later established. Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) contacted the Indian DGMO, and both countries agreed to bring the situation under control.

The Role of US President Donald Trump

In his speech, Sharif also praised US President Donald Trump. He noted that he and Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir recently met with Trump at the White House. This was the first visit by a Pakistani prime minister to the United States in six years.

Sharif described Trump as a "man of peace" and said that it was his efforts that made the ceasefire between India and Pakistan possible. These claims by Shahbaz Sharif have once again highlighted the tensions between India and Pakistan on the international stage.

Although India has not yet officially responded to these allegations, given its past, it can be assumed that India views these claims as propaganda. The situation between the two countries is currently calm, but such statements could once again fuel tensions.
