Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has made a big change in the process of marriage registration and has implemented a new rule so that the validity of the marriage can be ensured and the fraud in the name of marriage can be stopped. Rather, the growing illegal and suspicious weddings in the society could also be stopped.
What Big Change Has Been Made?
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, some important changes have been made in the new rules. Now at the time of registration for marriage, the presence of at least one member from the house of bride and groom is necessary.
Parents, siblings, grandparents, or adult children—if one of these people is not present at the time of registration, then the priest, cleric, or pastor, who is married, will have to be present and confirm. It has been told in the circular issued by the government that now it will be mandatory to give a video recording of the marriage on the pen drive.
Also, one affidavit (affidavit) will also have to be submitted. In which the consent and information of marriage should be clearly recorded. Along with this, the wedding register will be only at the place where one of the bride or groom has a permanent residence. Now no couple will be able to register marriage by going to any place of their choice.
This decision is also considered important because many cases have come up in recent times where some Arya Samaj temples and private institutions had married on the basis of fake documents. FIRs were also registered in many such cases in cities like Ghaziabad last year.
In the famous case of 'Shani Dev vs. Uttar Pradesh Government,' the Allahabad High Court had expressed concern that the weddings run from home under suspicious circumstances could be misused in serious crimes like smuggling or exploitation. After that, this new and strict rule has been brought.
Now if the marriage takes place in the absence of the family, then after a special investigation of the registrar, the marriage certificate will be approved, which will be clear in which situation the marriage is registered.
