Karnal: A case has been registered after a minor boy and girl allegedly got married against the wishes of their families in the Banson Gate area. The matter came to light when the Protection and Prohibition of Child Marriage Officer conducted an inquiry and submitted a complaint to the police seeking legal action.

Based on the officer’s complaint, the City Police registered a case regarding the alleged child marriage.

According to the complaint, the girl is around 17 years old, while the boy is approximately 17 years and 6 months old. Documents related to their ages and marriage were collected from both families during the investigation.

The records showed that the girl’s date of birth is April 3, 2009, while the boy’s date of birth is September 20, 2008.

Girl Left Home and Married Minor Boy

The girl’s father told officials that his daughter was in contact with the boy. Despite being a minor and not legally eligible for marriage, she allegedly refused to follow the family’s advice.

According to the complaint, the girl left her home after writing a letter and later married the boy on March 20, 2026. Her family reportedly came to know about the marriage nearly a week later.

Families Claim They Were Unaware of Marriage

The boy’s father also informed authorities that his son had married the girl but claimed that he had no prior knowledge of the marriage.

At present, the couple is reportedly staying at the boy’s house. Both families have stated that they were unaware of the marriage at the time it took place.
