New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today on Friday completes 4078 days and thus becomes the second largest serving PM with unbroken stint, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister in consecutive terms for 4077 days from 24 January 1966 to 24 March 1977. Though Indira Gandhi again became the Prime Minister, but after a break of about three years from 14 January 1980 to 31 October 1984.

Longest Serving Non-Congress PM

Again Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister who is born after Independence and is also the longest serving non-Congress PM.

PM Modi has been elected for the longest time, was the chief minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. He became Prime Minister on May 26, 2014. This made him the first Indian leader to lead an elected government at both the state and central levels in over 24 years.

Modi is the first Prime Minister born after India's independence. He is also the first non-Congress leader to complete two terms and has served the longest time as Prime Minister.

Party Won Six Elections In A Row

According to a government official, Modi is the only leader in India who has led his party to victory in six consecutive elections. These include the Gujarat Assembly elections in 2002, 2007, and 2012, as well as the Lok Sabha elections in 2014, 2019, and 2024.

She was the first and still the only woman to serve as Prime Minister of India. Indira Gandhi played a major role in Indian politics as the leader of the Indian National Congress. She was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, and Rajiv Gandhi, who became India's second Prime Minister. Her total time in office as Prime Minister was 15 years and 350 days.

Jawaharlal Nehru Hold Record

Jawaharlal Nehru holds the record for the longest tenure as Prime Minister. He served as the Prime Minister of India for 16 years and 286 days from 15 August 1947 to 27 May 1964. Jawaharlal Nehru was the Prime Minister of India for 6131 days. He died before completing his third term. Jawaharlal Nehru was elected Prime Minister after the Congress Party won the first general election in 1951-52, and again in 1957 and 1962.
