Robbery of over 14 kg gold from Small Finance Bank in Jabalpur
Jabalpur: Five helmet-wearing robbers looted 14.475 kilograms of gold and over Rs 5 lakh in cash from a branch of an ESAF Small Finance Bank here in Jabalpur, police said.
The branch is situated in the Sihora area under the Khitola police station. It is learned that there was no security guard present at the time of the incident.
Jabalpur Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Atul Singh said that all this loot took just 18 minutes. The robbers came on two motorcycles and entered the branch of ESAF Small Finance Bank wearing helmets and carried out the robbery in just 18 minutes.
While talking to media persons, Suryakant Sharma, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) said, "A total of five men wearing helmets entered inside an ESAF Small Finance Bank located under the Khitola police station limits on Monday morning and threatened the employees to open the locker. After that, they looted 14.475 kg of gold and Rs 5,08,000 in cash and escaped from the spot."
As soon as the matter was reported the police registered an FIR and began a hunt operation to apprehend the accused, ASP said.

The banks CCTV cameras captured the entire incident. The bandits are seen threatening the staff members in this picture before making off with bags filled with cash and gold. There are a lot of questions because security guards are not visible in the bank during this period. Five or six robbers disguised by helmets arrived on two or three bikes to carry out this act.
After learning of the incident police officers arrived on the scene spoke with bank employees and officials and sent out an alert for Jabalpur and the surrounding areas. It is thought that an informed individual or bank employee who was aware of the opening of the bank and the movements of its staff could join the robbers. Police however are looking into the matter. Following this incident the banking industry is once again in a state of panic with people talking about a variety of topics pertaining to their bank assets.
