Greater Noida West: A plan has been prepared to build a new four-kilometer-long elevated road to connect the rapidly developing Greater Noida West to National Highway-9 (NH-9) and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. This road will start from Ek Murti Chowk and go to NH-9 via Shahberi and Crossing Republic. This project will make the movement between Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, and Delhi much more comfortable and faster.
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, this entire route from Ek Murti Chowk to NH-9 is currently facing heavy traffic pressure. There are many big residential societies around this route, and this area is continuously growing in terms of population. Especially after the Noida International Airport starts by the end of this year, the traffic in this area is likely to increase even more rapidly. In such a situation, keeping in mind the future needs, this elevated road project has been given priority.
Greater Noida Authority's Rs 400 crore project
In March 2025, the Greater Noida Authority Board approved the construction of this much-awaited elevated road. The cost of this project has been estimated to be around Rs 400 crore. The National Highway Authority (NHAI) has been approached to take forward the construction work, and the required budget has also been released to prepare the detailed project report (DPR). The report is estimated to take about 4 to 5 months to prepare.
Project Features
This road will be a 6-lane elevated road. It will start with a 130-meter-wide road. It will connect to NH-9 and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, crossing Ek Murti Chowk, Shahberi, and Crossing Republic. This road has been given the status of 'Regional Connectivity Road.' It is estimated that the population of this area can reach 15 to 20 lakh in the coming 10 years. In view of which this road is becoming a basic need of the area.
Partnership between authorities
A financial partnership has been planned between Greater Noida, Noida, and Yamuna Authority for this ambitious project. However, according to sources, Noida and Yamuna Authority may show some hesitation regarding funding for this project, as this area comes under the jurisdiction of GNIDA (Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority).
More connectivity projects parallel to elevated road
This elevated road is one of the many connectivity schemes that are being prepared, keeping in mind the traffic pressure that will arise as soon as the Noida airport starts. Other schemes include projects like the Noida Expressway Bypass, Chilla Elevated Road, and Eastern Peripheral Road Connectivity. To reduce congestion, the Greater Noida Authority has recently widened the 3 km long road from Iteda Roundabout to Crossing Republic via Shahberi. Apart from this, the construction of an underpass is also going on on the Taj Expressway near Gaur Chowk.
