New Delhi: Formal relations between Turkey and India have existed since 1948. Prime Minister Modi visited Turkey in 2015, and Erdogan came to India in 2017. But when the issue of Kashmir comes up, Turkey's stance changes.

Turkey has shown time and again that it has scant regard for India, openly scorning India on Kashmir. He supports Pakistan in order to represent himself as the true leader of the Islamic world instead of Saudi Arabia.

He supports Pakistan to position himself as the leader of the Islamic world. But, instead of getting ahead of Saudi Arabia, his dominance in the Islamic World has withered away, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Turkey's attitude after the Pahalgam attack

On April 22, 26 innocent people lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The whole country went into mourning, but Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan neither condemned the attack nor expressed condolences to the victims.

He just said that the tension between India and Pakistan should be reduced, and Turkey stands in tandem with Pakistan.

This is the same Turkey, which resents India, to which India had provided great help under 'Operation Dost' during the terrible earthquake in 2023.

India had helped Turkey by sending rescue teams, relief materials, and military aircraft. But when India needs support on the international platform, Turkey takes Pakistan's side.

Turkey-Pakistan's secret collusion?

After this attack, the head of the Turkish intelligence agency reached Pakistan and visited the headquarters of the Pakistani Air Force there. The Pakistani Air Force itself released a video of this.

Is this just a coincidence or a well-thought-out strategy? Although Turkey has denied selling weapons to Pakistan, every move it makes raises suspicion.

The Turkish Embassy in India expressed condolences over the attack, but Erdogan himself did not say anything. While Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was in Turkey, he openly thanked Erdogan for his support on Kashmir.

That is, on the one hand, India was gathering evidence against Pakistan; on the other hand, Erdogan was standing with Pakistan and raising the issue of Kashmir.

Turkey's old strategy on Kashmir

It is not the first time that Turkey has supported Pakistan on Kashmir. When India removed Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Erdogan opposed it in the United Nations.

He had said that this step would further worsen the situation in Kashmir. India stated unequivocally at the time that Kashmir is its internal affair, barring any external intervention.

In February 2025, when Erdogan visited Pakistan, he again reiterated the same statement that the Kashmir issue should be resolved on the basis of UN resolutions.

India reacted immediately to this and summoned the Turkish ambassador and gave a stern warning.

What should India do?

This duplicity of Turkey is a matter of concern for India. Should India reconsider relations with Turkey? Or should we move forward keeping bilateral issues aside? What is your opinion? Do let us know by commenting.
