New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today made a detailed statement in the Rajya Sabha on the ongoing war in West Asia and its global implications. He said that this war has given a deep shock not only to the regional but also to the global economy, the impact of which will be seen for a long time. PM Modi said that the government is giving top priority to the safety of the country and its citizens in these dire circumstances.

Impact on energy and business

The Prime Minister said that because of the war, there has been a worldwide energy crisis. Supply of essential commodities like petrol, diesel, gas and fertilizers are affected. It has also affected India's trade routes, increasing import-export challenges. Obstacles in important shipping lanes such as the Strait of Hormuz are of particular concern.

Safety of Indian citizens is highest priority

PM Modi said that there are about one crore Indians living in Gulf countries, whose security is very important for the government. He said that so far about 3.75 lakh Indians have returned home safely. More than a thousand Indians have been brought back from Iran, including more than 700 medical students. He expressed grief over the deaths and disappearances of some Indians and assured better treatment of the injured.

Try to resolve through diplomacy

The Prime Minister said that India has adopted active diplomacy since the beginning of the war. He said that he had two rounds of talks with the heads of state of many West Asian countries. India is in constant contact with Iran, Israel and America. India's main goal is to restore peace in the region through dialogue and diplomacy.

Strait of Hormuz

PM Modi made it clear that obstructing an important route like the Strait of Hormuz is unacceptable. India has appealed to all parties to open this route soon to ensure safe passage of ships. He also strongly condemned attacks on civilians and energy infrastructure.

Efforts to maintain supply continue

The Prime Minister said that the government is making continuous efforts to ensure smooth supply of crude oil, LPG and fertilizers to India. In recent days, ships loaded with energy resources from many countries have reached India and this effort will continue.

Message of peace and dialogue

Finally, PM Modi said that India is a supporter of peace and dialogue in this crisis. He said that the Rajya Sabha and the whole country should unite and spread the message of peace to the world so that a peaceful solution to this crisis can be found.
