New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Japan on 29 August on a two-day visit. The main objective of this visit was to strengthen India-Japan economic relations and promote investment. Along with meeting top business leaders at the India-Japan Economic Forum held in Tokyo, he indicated taking bilateral relations to new heights.

Emphasis on mutual trust and partnership

Prime Minister Modi said in his address that Japan has been an important partner in India's development journey. The partnership of the two countries in every field, from metro networks to manufacturing and semiconductors to startups, has remained a symbol of mutual trust.

He specifically mentioned those Japanese businessmen with whom he has had a long-standing personal relationship, whether it was the visit to Gujarat or Delhi.

The prime minister pointed out that Japanese companies have invested over $40 billion in India, of which $30 billion has been private investment in the last two years alone. He referred to political stability, economic security, and policy transparency in India, saying that it provides an ideal environment for investment.

Future Prospects and 'Make in India'

Citing the example of successful partnership in the automobile sector, Prime Minister Modi said that similar magic can be replicated in the fields of batteries, robotics, semiconductors, shipbuilding, and nuclear energy.

He urged Japanese companies to increase investment in India under the vision of 'Make in India, Make for the World.' He also emphasized exploring possibilities of shared contribution to the development of the Global South and Africa.
