New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a six-day, three-nation tour of the Indo-Pacific region from tomorrow, July 6 to July 11, covering Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. The visit is expected to focus on strengthening maritime security, trade, clean energy cooperation, resilient supply chains and people-to-people ties.

According to officials, the tour underscores India's growing engagement with key Indo-Pacific partners amid evolving geopolitical and economic priorities.

Indonesia visit to focus on maritime cooperation

Prime Minister Modi will begin his tour in Indonesia from July 6 to 8, where he will hold bilateral talks with President Prabowo Subianto, who was the chief guest at India's Republic Day celebrations in 2025.

The discussions are expected to centre on maritime security, regional connectivity, defence cooperation and expanding bilateral trade. Modi is also scheduled to address the Indian diaspora during his stay in Jakarta.

Australia summit to boost economic ties

From July 8 to 10, Modi will visit Australia to participate in the Third India-Australia Annual Summit in Melbourne. He is expected to hold talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on advancing the proposed Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).

The leaders are also likely to discuss cooperation in critical minerals, rare earth supply chains, clean energy and emerging technologies. Modi will interact with members of the Indian community during the visit.

Historic New Zealand visit after four decades

The final leg of the tour will take Modi to New Zealand from July 10 to 11, marking the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in nearly 40 years.

During meetings with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, the two sides are expected to review progress on free trade discussions, student mobility, supply-chain resilience and economic cooperation. Modi will also engage with business leaders, sports personalities and the Indian diaspora in Wellington and Auckland.

The three-nation visit is expected to further deepen India's strategic partnerships across the Indo-Pacific region while reinforcing cooperation in trade, security and regional stability.
