Putin won’t eat Indian chefs’ meals; Here’s what’s on his menu

Russian President Vladimir Putin avoids eating Indian chefs’ food during his visits abroad. Experts say his meals are strictly prepared and monitored by Russian chefs, adhering to stringent security protocols. New Delhi: Whenever Vladimir Putin travels outside Russia, he is always accompanied by a full team of chefs. This evening, when his IL-96 aircraft lands at Delhi airport, it will contain Russian tvorog (cottage cheese), Russian ice cream, Russian honey, and bottled water, all packed in separate compartments. This is not a whim, but a measure taken under strict security and health protocols.

Past experiences reveal a pattern

Putin doesn't always eat food prepared by Indian chefs. During his visit to the Taj Hotel in Mumbai in December 2014, the entire floor was taken over by the Russian security agency FSO. All Indian spices were removed from the hotel kitchen.

During the India-Russia summit in 2018, Russian chefs also set up their own stoves in the kitchen of Hyderabad House. According to The Hindu, biryani and galouti kebabs were prepared at the Presidential Palace, but Putin only ate his own Russian salad and tvorog.

The same rules apply abroad

At the 2022 SCO summit in Samarkand, the President of Uzbekistan tried to offer Putin the local dish 'plov', but Putin refused. The Kremlin clarified that the President has special dietary requirements and strict security protocols. His food is always sourced from Russia when he is abroad.

No trust in Indian chefs, security paramount

According to the book "The New Nobility" by former FSO officer and journalist Andrei Soldatov, a "portable food laboratory" always accompanies Putin on his foreign trips since 2001. This lab tests every dish using a spectrometer and chemical analysis.

The same procedure was followed at the Palace of Versailles in France in 2017. French chefs prepared croissants and foie gras, but Putin only ate his own Russian soup and tvorog.

Food comes from a special Russian farm

According to a Russia Today report, Putin's food comes from a special farm outside Moscow, where the dairy cows are monitored 24 hours a day. This is why foreign kitchens are not trusted.

Therefore, in India, food prepared by Indian chefs will only be for show and photographs, while the actual meal will be prepared for him entirely under strict Russian security regulations.

Putin's meals are entirely subject to strict security and health regulations. Whether in India or any other country, his meals are always planned using ingredients brought from Russia and prepared by his own team of chefs. Food prepared by Indian chefs will be limited to mere formalities and photo opportunities.
