On the fourth day of the winter session of Parliament, Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, told the media that the government does not want a meeting to take place between the Leader of the Opposition and the Russian President. He termed this as a matter of concern for the democratic process.

The session, which began on December 1, was disrupted by protests in the initial days. Although the House functioned smoothly on the third day, on the fourth day, the opposition united to raise the serious issue of air pollution. MPs from the Congress, DMK, RJD, SP, JMM, CPI(M), CPI, NCP, and Shiv Sena (UBT) jointly pressured the government.
However, the TMC did not participate in this joint strategy. Putin's visit and the ongoing heated debates in Parliament have completely charged the political atmosphere.
