Kota: A 16-year-old medical aspirant hanged himself from a ceiling fan in his hostel room in Kota, just 20 days after joining a coaching centre here to prepare for NEET, police said on Tuesday.

This is the 13th case of suspected suicide by a coaching student in the country’s coaching hub since January and the third in April alone.

A native of Bihar’s Katihar, Tameem Iqbal was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his hostel room in Talwandi area on Monday evening, the police said.

According to police, the student arrived in Kota only 20 days ago.

“He was staying in a hostel in the Jawahar Nagar area and was preparing for the NEET at a prominent coaching centre of the city. However, on Tuesday wee hours, he died by suicide in his hostel,” said Ram Laxman, station house officer (SHO) of Jawahar Nagar police station.

The officer added that the incident came to light when he did not respond to several knocks on his door by the hostel staff.

“Later, his friends and the hostel staff broke open the door and found him dead. The police immediately reached the spot and sent the body for an autopsy. His parents were also informed about the matter,” said Laxman.

Different incident happened in Bihar, four people were killed and two others sustained injuries in a road accident under Bhabhua police station area in Kaimur district of Bihar.

Police said here that four people, riding on a motorcycle, were on way to their native village from Babura when a four wheeler hit them on Bhabhua- Mohania road near Parsia village. Two of them died on the spot while as many died during the treatment in hospital, police added.

"Driver of the four wheeler lost control over his vehicle and hit a roadside tree", police said adding that driver managed to escape leaving vehicle on the spot.

Police informed that vehicle had been seized while bodies were sent for postmortem.

All the deceased were residents of Bare village of Bhabua police station area. Bhabua SHO Mukesh Kumar said that the collision between the Scorpio and the bike was so massive that two youths died on the spot, while one youth died in Sadar Hospital and other one died during treatment in Banaras."

Scorpio Driver Absconded
After the accident, Scorpio driver fled leaving the vehicle. A crowd of local people gathered at the spot, who informed the police about the accident.

Police reached the spot and took the bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem.

Police And Administration Action
Police have seized the Scorpio and started searching for the driver. Bhabua Sadar Hospital doctor Abhilash Chandra said, "The injured youths were brought to the hospital, but one of them was referred to Banaras due to his critical condition. Unfortunately, both of them died during treatment.
