New Delhi: The grand Ramlila and Dussehra celebrations have begun at the Red Fort grounds in the capital, Delhi, from 22 September to 3 October. The event will continue for the next 13 days, will feature performances of the Luv Kush Ramlila, Nav Shri Dharmik Ramlila, and Shri Dharmik Ramlila.

Ramlila Begins With Ganesh Puja

The Luv Kush Ramlila was inaugurated with Ganesh Puja, attended by Union Minister of State for Road Transport Harsh Malhotra, Chairman of the National Scheduled Caste Commission Kishore Makwana, and Mathura's Peethadheeshwar Riteshvar Maharaj. The puja was performed with due rituals by learned pundits from Kashi and Mathura. The Ramlila will feature several historical scenes, including the Shiva-Parvati episode, Narada's infatuation, and the Ravana-Vedavati dialogue.

Poonam Pandey's Role

Actress Poonam Pandey is playing the role of Mandodari in the Luv Kush Ramlila this time. She has observed a nine-day fast during Navratri to ensure she can perform her role with complete devotion and purity.

Traffic Diversions And Restrictions

Thousands of devotees, spectators, and VIP guests will arrive at the Red Fort complex during this period, leading to heavy traffic congestion in the surrounding areas.

The traffic police have already issued an advisory warning people to avoid traveling on Netaji Subhash Marg and surrounding roads. From 22 September to 3 October, from 5 pm to 12 midnight, all commercial vehicles and DTC buses coming from Delhi Gate Chowk, Daryaganj, and Chhatta Rail Chowk will not proceed towards the Red Fort. Traffic will be restricted on Netaji Subhash Marg and Nishad Raj Marg. Private vehicles will also be diverted if necessary.

Use the Metro, Instructions for Pedestrians

City residents are being advised to use the Metro or bus instead of private vehicles. Pedestrians should use footpaths and crossings only. Traveling during the evening peak hours is recommended to save time. Devotees are urged to park their vehicles only at designated parking areas.

Parking Arrangements and Nearest Metro Stations

Vehicles without labels can be parked at Madhav Das Parking, Tikona Park, Sunehri Masjid Parking, Parade Ground, Dangal Maidan, Omaxe Mall, and Church Mission Road Parking. Parking arrangements for labeled vehicles have been made at the Nav Dharmik Samiti Red Fort, Lahore Gate, and near the ticket counter. The nearest Metro stations are Red Fort and Jama Masjid.

Municipal Corporation's Cleanliness And Security Preparations

In view of Durga Puja and Navratri, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has made extensive cleanliness and security arrangements. Additional sanitation workers have been deployed, and fogging will be conducted to prevent mosquito-borne diseases. Standing Committee Chairman Satya Sharma appealed to the public to maintain cleanliness and hygiene and minimize the use of plastic.
