The Election Commission has released Gujarat’s draft voter list after the Special Intensive Revision. Of over 5.08 crore voters, nearly 73.7 lakh names were removed due to death, migration, or duplication, ensuring a cleaner electoral roll ahead of elections.
Draft Voter List Released in Gujarat After Special Intensive Revision
Gandhinagar: Following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Gujarat, the Election Commission has released the draft voter list. The list, made public on Friday, December 19, shows a total of 4.34 crore valid voters.
Before the SIR, there were 5.08 crore registered voters in the state. Thus, approximately 74 lakh names were removed from the list during this process. According to Election Commission data, out of a total of 50,843,436 voters, 43,470,109 were found to be valid after verification.
This means that 7,373,327 names were removed from the draft voter list.

The Election Commission has provided recourse for citizens whose names are not included in the draft voter list. A period for claims and objections has been set, which will be open from December 19, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

If a voter's name is not on the list, they can apply to have their name added by filling out Form-6 with their Aadhaar card or other valid identity proof.
The Election Commission has also clarified that registering as a voter in more than one location is a punishable offense. Therefore, citizens are urged to carefully check their details during this period.
The SIR campaign in Gujarat was launched on October 27 under the instructions of the Election Commission. The voter enumeration process was extended by three days, until December 14, to give citizens additional time.
This process was completed in all 33 districts and 182 assembly constituencies of the state. Regular meetings were held between Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of recognized political parties to ensure transparency and accuracy during the verification process.
In the final verification phase, 1,807,277 deceased voters, 969,813 voters who were not found at their registered addresses, and 4,026,010 permanently shifted voters were identified.

In addition, 381,534 duplicate voters were also identified, i.e., individuals whose names were registered in more than one location.
The CEO of the Gujarat office stated that this special intensive revision campaign has been successful. Its main objective is to prepare a clean, accurate, and inclusive electoral roll before the upcoming elections, thereby maintaining the credibility of the electoral process.
