Mumbai: The death of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash has taken a major turn. In this matter, a 'Zero FIR' has been registered in Bengaluru based on a complaint filed by his nephew and Maharashtra MLA, Rohit Pawar. This FIR has subsequently been transferred to the Baramati police in Maharashtra for further investigation, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Why was a 'Zero FIR' Registered?

Rohit Pawar had initially attempted to file a complaint at several police stations across Maharashtra, but an FIR was not registered there. Following this, he submitted his complaint in Bengaluru, where the police registered a 'Zero FIR.' A 'Zero FIR' signifies that any police station—regardless of whether the incident occurred within its jurisdiction—can register a complaint and subsequently transfer it to the appropriate police station.

How Did the Plane Crash Occur?

On January 28, 2026, a private aircraft—a Bombardier Learjet 45—crashed during landing while en route from Mumbai to Baramati in Pune. A total of five people, including Ajit Pawar, lost their lives in this accident.

Serious Allegations of Conspiracy

The complaint alleges that this incident was not merely an accident, but could potentially be part of a larger conspiracy. It is alleged that there was gross negligence regarding the maintenance and operation of the aircraft, and that safety regulations were violated.

It is further claimed that accurate records of the aircraft's flight hours were not maintained, and that, in reality, it had flown significantly beyond its prescribed operational limits. Additionally, allegations have been raised regarding irregularities in the aircraft's 'Airworthiness Certificate.'

DGCA Report and Technical Flaws

The complaint cites a report by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which had deemed the aircraft belonging to the concerned company as unfit for safe flight operations. The aircraft had previously been retired from service after use in the United States before being subsequently operated in India.

Questions Surrounding Weather and Landing

The weather conditions prevailing at the time of the crash have also come under scrutiny. It has been reported that despite poor visibility, permission for landing was granted. This raises questions regarding the operational decisions made.

Suspicion Surrounds Pilot and Crew

The complaint further alleges that the pilot team was switched at the last minute—a move deemed suspicious. The pilot's past professional record has also been described as controversial. Prior to the crash, the co-pilot's voice was heard conveying panic, yet there was no response from the main pilot.

Following the filing of this FIR, the investigation will no longer be confined solely to the crash itself; it will now also explore the angle of a criminal conspiracy. This is expected to lead to a thorough and in-depth examination of the entire case. The case surrounding Ajit Pawar's death has now evolved beyond a simple accident inquiry into an investigation into a potential conspiracy. The findings of the investigation in the coming days may reveal the truth behind this matter.
