Tejas Crash: Pilot may have lost control
New Delhi: On the Tejas aircraft crash during the Dubai Air Show 2025, Defense Expert Captain Anil Gaur (Retd.) said that the incident might have been caused by the pilot losing control or a blackout due to the g-forces caused by gravity. Captain Gaur said that the real cause of the crash will come only after receiving data from the cockpit.
Extreme G-forces can result in blood to pool in the lower body and cause a pilot to black out.
Capt Anil Gaur expressed condolences to the family of Wing Commander Naman Syal, who tragically lost his life in the accident, and said, "It is sad that our Tejas jet crashed during the Dubai Air Show and our brave pilot lost his life. Judging by the visuals, it appears that the jet lost control during a manoeuvre, or perhaps the pilot may have suffered a blackout. Blackout here refers to excessive gravitational force."
He further said, "Pilots wear a G-suit to prevent blood from pooling in their legs; there may have been a problem with it. The exact cause of the incident will only be known after receiving the cockpit data. I express my condolences to the pilot's family."
The Indian Air Force, in an official statement said, "An IAF Tejas aircraft crashed during an aerobatic display at the Dubai Air Show today. The pilot sustained serious injuries in the accident, resulting in his death. The IAF deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family in this hour of grief. A Court of Inquiry is being constituted to determine the cause of the accident that claimed the pilot's life."
