Tirupati Laddu Row: ED Arrests Sukriti Foods Promoter Over Rs 96 Crore Adulteration Allegation

The Tirupati Laddu ghee controversy has taken a fresh turn, with the Enforcement Directorate alleging that adulterated ghee worth Rs 96 crore was manufactured using palm oils and chemicals before being supplied to TTD.

The federal agency said Kailash Chand Mangla, promoter of Sukriti Foods, was arrested by the ED’s Hyderabad office on September 17 in connection with the alleged Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) ghee adulteration case.

ED Alleges Adulterated Ghee Supply

Mangla was produced before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Visakhapatnam, which sent him to judicial custody, according to the agency.

The ED claimed its investigation found that adulterated ghee used in preparing Tirupati Laddu prasadam was allegedly manufactured using refined palm oil, palm kernel oil, palmolein and several chemicals. These included MG-90, Monoglycerides, Myvacet Soft 400 and Acetic Acid Ester.

According to the agency, the product was subsequently supplied as Agmark Special Grade Cow Ghee for delivery to TTD.

The ED alleged that fraudulent ghee supplies to TTD between 2019 and 2024 were valued at Rs 230 crore. Of this amount, it claimed that Rs 96 crore worth of adulterated ghee was manufactured by Mangla.

Mangla Allegedly Used Front Entities

The agency described Mangla as one of the alleged co-conspirators and claimed that he facilitated the procurement of adulterants and manufactured adulterated ghee at his factory premises.

"He also coordinated the supply of adulterated ghee through various front entities, including Sri Vyshnavi Dairy Specialities, Malganga Milk & Agro Products and A.R. Dairy Foods," it said.

The ED further alleged that Mangla maintained false records to conceal the use of adulterants and make the production and supply appear legitimate.

"Mangla created and maintained false records relating to the sale and purchase of ghee and refined palm oil, with the objective of concealing the actual utilisation of adulterants and creating an appearance of legitimate production and supply of genuine cow ghee," the ED alleged.

Another Arrest In Tirupati Ghee Case

The agency said it had previously arrested Vipin Jain, promoter and director of Bhole Baba Organic Dairy Milk, on similar charges.
