Srinagar: Two people have been arrested in connection with an alleged drone-dropping case in Jammu and Kashmir’s Arnia area, with officials reporting the recovery of heroin, opium and an Italian-made Beretta pistol during the investigation.
The arrests were made as authorities probed suspected drone-based consignments in the Arnia area of Jammu district. Officials said questioning of the accused led investigators to information about two consignments allegedly received through drone-dropping.
According to officials, the investigation focused on suspected consignments delivered through drones in the Arnia area. During questioning, the two arrested individuals allegedly disclosed that they had received two such consignments. Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged deliveries and the wider network that may be connected to the case.
The probe reportedly resulted in the recovery of an Italian-made Beretta pistol along with two magazines and four live rounds. Officials also said approximately 500 grams of heroin and 500 grams of opium were recovered during the investigation.
The recoveries have added a major security and narcotics angle to the case with investigators now working to establish the source, intended destination and possible handlers linked to the alleged consignments.
