New Delhi: Two colleges under Delhi University received bomb threat emails in the early hours of December 3, triggering an immediate and large-scale response from Delhi Police, bomb squads, and dog squads. No suspicious objects have been found so far, officials confirmed, and verification is still underway.
According to officials, both institutions alerted police soon after receiving the threatening emails. The Delhi Police Control Room activated emergency protocols, dispatching Bomb Disposal Teams (BDT), dog squads, and local police units for anti-sabotage checks.
The threats were received by Ramjas College and Deshbandhu College, both of which promptly informed authorities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia told media that the Ramjas College principal reported receiving the mail at 1:59 am, after which police teams reached the campus and began thorough inspections. Multiple units were deployed to eliminate any possibility of a security lapse.
Police cordoned off the surrounding areas and temporarily restricted entry to ensure the safety of students and staff. Individuals present on the premises were shifted to designated safe zones while inspections were ongoing.
Search teams extensively scanned classrooms, corridors, laboratories, open spaces, and administrative buildings using specialised equipment and sniffer dogs. Despite continuous checks, no explosive devices or suspicious items have been found so far, officials said. Authorities added that such drills are conducted meticulously to ensure absolute safety.

Delhi Police have initiated a cyber investigation to identify the origin of the threat emails. Digital forensics teams will examine server data, sender credentials, and electronic footprints to determine whether the threats were genuine or a hoax.
Officials also emphasised that recent instances of fake threat mails to schools and institutions have led to stricter monitoring and quicker response mechanisms.
Normal academic and administrative activities are expected to resume once both campuses receive an all-clear from the bomb squad and security agencies. Police continue to maintain heightened vigilance around the area, and authorities have urged students and faculty to avoid panic and rely only on official updates.
