Raebareli: Swami Prasad Maurya, who was a cabinet minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, was attacked by two youths at Saras Chowk in Rae Bareli on Wednesday.

Swami Prasad remains in the news due to making controversial remarks. When he reached Rae Bareli on Wednesday, his workers welcomed him at Motel Chowk.

Former cabinet minister and national president of his Janata Party Swami Prasad Maurya was slapped by a youth at the Gol Chowk of the city.

Swami Prasad Maurya stopped in Rae Bareli while going to Fatehpur. Workers were welcoming him at Saras Chowk in Mill Area police station area, during which a youth slapped Swami Prasad Maurya.

Angry with this unexpected incident with Swami Prasad, the workers chased the youth and beat him up. After this, he was handed over to the police.

It is being told that two youths were standing with the party workers. As soon as the workers started welcoming him, a youth came from behind in the crowd and attacked the former minister from behind while garlanding him.

Enraged by the incident, the former minister's supporters beat up the accused youth and his companion. Mill Area Police Station Head Ajay Rai says that the youths had misbehaved with the former minister and tried to attack him.

Both the accused have been arrested. The accused have given their names as Rohit Dwivedi and Shivam Yadav. Legal action is being taken by registering a case.
