New Delhi: Astha Jain from Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh has secured All India Rank (AIR) 9 in the Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination 2025, marking a significant achievement in one of India’s most competitive examinations.
Astha’s success is particularly noteworthy because she had already cleared the examination earlier. In a previous attempt, she secured AIR 131, which earned her a position in the Indian Police Service (IPS). Despite achieving that milestone, she continued her preparation with the goal of improving her rank.

Currently undergoing training as an IPS officer in Hyderabad, Astha continued her studies alongside her professional commitments. Her determination paid off when the Union Public Service Commission announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2025, placing her among the top 10 candidates in the country.
Astha largely relied on self-study for her preparation. Although she briefly attended coaching classes in Delhi earlier, she focused mainly on independent learning to strengthen her understanding of the subjects.
Astha Jain belongs to a modest family from the town of Kandhla in Shamli district. Her father runs a confectionery shop, while her mother, Mamta, is a homemaker. Astha is the second among four siblings, which include three sisters and a brother.

Her father expressed pride in her achievement, stating that his daughter reached this milestone through dedication and perseverance. He also highlighted that he ensured equal educational opportunities for all his children and never compromised on their studies.
