Uttarakhand: ED files chargesheet against 5 including Harak Singh Rawat

Dehradun: There has been a big upheaval in Uttarakhand politics once again. The troubles of former cabinet minister of the state Dr. Harak Singh Rawat have increased further.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a prosecution complaint in the special court against Harak Singh Rawat, his wife Deepti Rawat, Lakshmi Rana, Virendra Singh Kandhari and Purna Devi Memorial Trust under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.

According to the Dynamite News correspondent, ED has taken this action on the basis of serious allegations of land mafia and fraud. The investigation revealed that Harak Singh Rawat and his associates bought valuable land at very cheap prices under a conspiracy and transferred it to the trust.

It is worth noting that in January 2025, ED had temporarily attached about 101 bighas of land in the same case at a value of Rs 6.56 crore. Whereas the market price of this land has been estimated to be more than Rs 70 crore.

The investigating agency alleges that political influence and a large-scale scam was done under the guise of trust behind the manipulation of land.

The matter has now reached the court of the special court, due to which the court proceedings are likely to be expedited. ED has clearly stated in the prosecution complaint that this transaction is a part of money laundering and an attempt was made to earn huge profits by wrongly showing the land in the name of the trust.

Harak Singh Rawat has been a famous name in the politics of the state for a long time. He has been accused of many controversies in the past, but this time the case is directly related to money laundering and land scam, which can have a big impact on his political career.

Now it remains to be seen to what extent ED is able to prove its allegations in the further hearing in the special court and how the Rawat family gets itself out of the clutches of ED. At present, this big action has created a stir in the politics of the state.
