Weather: Monsoon fury cripples Himachal claiming 360 lives; Several roads ruined

The SDMA said that the death toll from the disaster has risen to 360 since June 20. Out of these 360, as many as 197 deaths have been caused by rain-related incidents such as landslides, flash floods, cloudbursts, drowning, lightning and other weather-related accidents.

Shimla: The heavy monsoon continuous to ravage northern states, including Himachal Pradesh, triggering a large number of incidents of flash floods and landslides, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

However Himachal Pradesh is one of the most affected states. According to State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), over 1080 roads, about 2840 power supply lines and more than 500 water supply schemes have been either completely ruined or disrupted across the state due to massive rains.

The SDMA said that the death toll from the disaster has risen to 360 since June 20. Out of these 360, as many as 197 deaths have been caused by rain-related incidents such as landslides, flash floods, cloudbursts, drowning, lightning and other weather-related accidents.

Massive rainfall over the past 24 hours has caused many more road blockages in several districts including with Kullu (225), Mandi (205), Shimla (212), and Chamba (166) which are the worst affected.
