New Delhi: Due to continuous rain in Uttarakhand for the last several days and the release of water from dams (barrages), the water level of the Yamuna River is increasing rapidly. Its effect is now clearly visible in the lower areas.

On Sunday, due to an increase in water level in the Sofipur area, near the Pasina Wale Hanuman Temple and Gundau Ghat, it got submerged. Also, the water level of the Yamuna has increased by about two feet in the Nagla Singhi area of ​​Tundla.

This increased water level has become a matter of concern for the farmers living in the coastal villages.

Danger of Yamuna increased; water level close to danger mark

The water level of the Yamuna River is currently flowing about one meter below the danger mark. This river flowing through the Sadar tehsil area passes through the Fatehabad bridge and moves forward near the Pasina Wale Hanuman Temple.

Yamuna nears danger mark

SDM Sadar Satyendra Singh said that the water level of Yamuna is continuously rising due to the rains continuing since Saturday night and the release of water from the barrages.

He said that the Yamuna ghats were also inspected on Monday along with the Lekhpals. According to the XEN of the Irrigation Department, the water level of Yamuna reached 151.18 meters on Sunday, while the danger level is considered to be 152.130 meters.

Farmers are suffering due to the rising water level of Yamuna.

In many villages situated on the banks of the Yamuna, especially in the Nagla Singhi area of ​​​​Tundla, farmers' crops have started drowning in water. Millet, sesame, maize, and sorghum crops have already been damaged due to floods three or four times.

Now with further increase in the water level, the rest of the crops are also in danger of drowning. Farmers are upset with this rising water level, as it has become difficult to reach the fields. Also, taking the animals to a safe place has also become a challenge.

Local administration inspected Yamuna ghats

SDM Anuradha Singh said that the water level of Yamuna is currently one meter below the danger mark, but the situation is being monitored. The administration is constantly inspecting the banks of Yamuna and the affected areas so that necessary steps can be taken in time.
