Party insiders indicated that former UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary is likely to return to the state cabinet. The reshuffle is expected to take regional and caste equations into account in view of the upcoming elections.
Alongside changes in the government, a new state BJP team under current president Pankaj Chaudhary may also be formed, with electoral considerations expected to shape both the organisation and cabinet structure.
Uttar Pradesh is set for a cabinet expansion, with several key leaders expected to be inducted. Among the probable entrants:

Currently, the Uttar Pradesh government has 54 ministers, while the maximum permissible strength of the council is 60.
The cabinet expansion comes at a politically significant moment for the BJP, which is aiming to consolidate its social coalition following setbacks in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party is expected to use the reshuffle to send a strong signal to key caste groups and regions ahead of the next state election.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath first assumed office in 2017 after the BJP’s landslide victory over the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance. The party returned to power in 2022, making history as the first party in nearly four decades to retain power consecutively in Uttar Pradesh.
In the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly, the BJP holds 255 seats on its own, with allies like Apna Dal (Sonelal) and the Nishad Party comfortably pushing the NDA past the majority mark. The Samajwadi Party remains the principal opposition in the state.
