Amit Shah releases ‘chargesheet’ against TMC ahead of Bengal elections 2026
Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday released the BJP’s “chargesheet” against the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, intensifying the party’s campaign ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Shah said the elections would present voters with a clear choice between “fear and trust.”
Shah accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of presiding over a governance model marked by corruption, violence and misinformation over the past 15 years.
He alleged that the TMC’s political approach relied on fear and instability, while asserting that the BJP aims to offer an alternative focused on development and governance.

The Home Minister described the document as a “chargesheet” presented on behalf of the people of West Bengal, highlighting issues such as law and order concerns, economic challenges and alleged corruption.
He said the BJP has consistently opposed these issues since 2011 and expressed confidence that the party would form the government in the state.
Shah also linked the upcoming elections to national security, claiming that West Bengal plays a crucial role in safeguarding India’s eastern region.
He alleged that infiltration remains a concern in the state and said addressing it would be a priority if the BJP comes to power.
The press conference was attended by senior BJP leaders, including state president Samik Bhattacharya and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari.
