Rajnath Singh gives stern warning to 'goons' in West Bengal (Img: Internet)
New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday issued a strong warning to criminal elements in West Bengal, saying strict action would be taken if the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance comes to power in the state.
Addressing a roadshow in Hooghly, Singh said that law and order would be a top priority under an NDA government. He asserted that those involved in criminal activities would either be behind bars or face the full force of the law.
Singh said the alliance is committed to restoring stability in the state. Alongside improving security, he promised fair prices for farmers, employment opportunities for youth, and better infrastructure, including road development.
He emphasised that strengthening governance and ensuring public safety would be central to the party’s agenda in West Bengal.
Singh’s comments come close on the heels of similar statements by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who recently warned against criminal networks and corruption in the state during a rally in Bishnupur.
Modi had urged those involved in unlawful activities to surrender, stating that strict action would follow after the election process. The remarks signalled a coordinated campaign focus on law enforcement and governance.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also been vocal on the issue, cautioning criminal elements against disrupting the electoral process. He warned of decisive action against those attempting to intimidate voters.
Shah further criticised the state government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, particularly on the issue of women’s safety.
At a recent rally, Shah alleged that incidents across the state reflected concerns about women’s security. He accused the current administration of failing to ensure a safe environment and said stronger enforcement measures would be implemented if his party comes to power.
He also contrasted governance in BJP-ruled states, claiming that women’s safety remains a priority under those administrations.
