New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has intensified his attack over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, telling party leaders at a Congress meeting that the fight over the issue will continue. His remarks came amid a growing political dispute between the Congress and the Election Commission over the voter list revision process.
Addressing the Congress huddle, Rahul Gandhi gave a strong message to party leaders and workers, urging them to remain united in their campaign. He said the party would continue raising questions related to the SIR process and electoral transparency.
The SIR process has become a major political flashpoint, with the Congress alleging concerns over voter roll changes and demanding greater transparency from the Election Commission. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge has also raised objections over the process and announced that Congress would intensify its campaign on the issue.
The opposition party has demanded details of changes made in electoral rolls and sought greater disclosure regarding the revision exercise.
The BJP has criticised Rahul Gandhi and the Congress over their statements on the Election Commission and SIR. The party has accused the opposition of questioning constitutional institutions and rejected the allegations raised against the poll body.
