Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has married BJD leader Pinaki Mishra, who is 15 years older than herself. According to sources, the two-time Lok Sabha MP from Krishna Nagar has married Pinaki Mishra, a veteran MP representing Puri constituency in Odisha, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

In a picture that went viral on social media, Mahua Moitra is seen dressed in traditional attire and gold jewellery. The couple reportedly got married on May 3 in abroad.

Mahua Moitra: A Brief Profile

Born in Assam on October 12, 1974, Mahua Moitra started her career as an investment banker. Later, in 2010, Mahua joined Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress. She contested and won the Lok Sabha elections from Krishna Nagar constituency in West Bengal in 2019. Mahua was re-elected in 2024.

About Pinaki Mishra

Pinaki Mishra was born on October 23, 1959 in Puri, Odisha. He is a seasoned politician and senior lawyer. He also holds a BA (Hons) in History from St. Stephen's College and an LLB from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. Pinaki won the Puri Lok Sabha seat in 1996 and began his political career with the Indian National Congress. He later joined Naveen Patnaik's Biju Janata Dal and won in 2009, 2014 and Pinaki was married to Sangeeta Mishra and they have a son and a daughter.

Pinaki's Father Loknath Mishra

Pinaki's father Loknath Mishra was twice elected to the Odisha Assembly as a member of the Congress Party. He later joined the Independent Party and became its vice-president. In 1977, he joined the Janata Party. He was nominated to the Rajya Sabha three times in a row (1960 to 1978). He served as the Governor of the three northeastern states of Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh (1991-1997). He passed away on 27 May 2009 at the age of 87 in Bhubaneswar.
