New Delhi: The fervour and fragrance of Ganesh Chaturthi is wafting into the spiritual air across the Nation. This year the Festival is celebrated on 27 August, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Although Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in most parts of the country, the main festivities are hosted in Maharashtra with the divine echo of 'Ganpati Bappa Morya' which means 'Lord Ganpati, oh father,' or 'Lord Ganpati, come forward'. This phrase also honors the 14th-century saint Morya Gosavi.

Lalbaugcha Raja

Lalbaugcha Raja is popularly known as 'Lalbaug ka Raja'. It is one of the most famous Ganesha idols in Mumbai. It is an important part of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, where lakhs of devotees come to seek blessings from the "wish-fulfilling" Ganesha.

Lalbaugcha Raja is also known as 'Navasacha Ganapati', it means 'wish-fulfilling Ganesha'. It is believed that the idol of Lalbaugcha Raja has the power to fulfill the wishes of all those who worship him with reverence and devotion.

The holy idol of Lalbaugcha Raja was first installed in 1934 by fishermen and traders who had to lose their market due to the British government. Everyone prayed to Lord Ganesha for the attainment of a new market. When their wish was fulfilled, they installed Lalbaugcha Raja in gratitude.

When is Ganesh Visarjan?

According to Hinduism, Lord Ganesha is worshipped for ten days in a ritualistic manner. The day on which he is immersed at the end of the puja is considered the most auspicious day as the blessings of Ganesha are received on this day. Therefore, devotees bid farewell to Ganesha with great pomp on this day. This year, according to the Panchang, Ganpati Visarjan will take place on September 6.
