In fact, Team India had made it clear before the final that they would not accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi. Although Team India was prepared to accept the trophy from any official other than Naqvi, Naqvi, due to his stubbornness, took the trophy and Team India's medals with him to his hotel. The BCCI objected to this.
The final match of the Asia Cup 2025 between Team India and Pakistan was played on September 28 at the Dubai International Stadium. Team India won the match by 5 wickets, securing the title for the ninth time. Although Team India did not receive the trophy, the Indian team celebrated the victory by standing on the podium without the trophy.
It is worth noting that Mohsin Naqvi is the chairman of both the ACC and the PCB. He is also Pakistan's Home Minister. Following Pakistan's defeat in the final, several former cricketers called for his resignation as PCB chairman. However, Naqvi has not yet made any statement on the issue.
