BCCI Announces T20 World Cup India Squad
Mumbai: The biggest tournament in T20 cricket, the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, will be played next year in February-March. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India's 15-member squad for this highly anticipated tournament. Suryakumar Yadav has once again been entrusted with the captaincy of the Indian team, while Shubman Gill has been appointed as the vice-captain.
The BCCI has selected a balanced team, keeping in mind the conditions in India and Sri Lanka. The squad includes four specialist batsmen, two wicketkeepers, four all-rounders, and five bowlers. The team selection reflects a good mix of young and experienced players.
The biggest decision in the team selection was dropping Shubman Gill. Despite getting continuous opportunities, his inability to perform effectively in the T20 format led the selectors to take this tough decision. Meanwhile, Rinku Singh has earned a place in the team due to his excellent finishing abilities. Ishan Kishan also makes a comeback to the T20 World Cup squad after a long time.
